Introducing the "Second Unryu-class ship, Amagi" with included etched parts!
The Amagi was the second Unryu-class ship, built at the private Nagasaki Shipyard and completed in August 1944.
Work on the Unryu began as part of the (urgent) plan, basic plan number G16, with 15 ships, including this one, planned to be built to replace the aircraft carriers lost after the Battle of Midway.
To shorten the construction period, the project was carried out based on a redesign of the aircraft carrier Hiryu, with the shapes of later ships, such as the Amagi and Katsuragi, becoming increasingly simplified.
At the time of completion, the Amagi no longer had a sufficient number of aircraft on board, so it remained in the inland sea, moored in disguise alongside its sister ship, the Katsuragi, on Mitsugo Island south of the Kure Naval Port.
It was hit, capsized, and sunk during an air raid on Kure in July 1945. The war ended without contributing to the war effort, and the Floating Lion was dismantled in November 1947.
The special series is a 1/700 scale offshore model that recreates the area above the waterline.
This ship model boasts excellent detail reproduction thanks to its detailed part division and delicate sculpting.
□The molded parts of the hull are light green, taking into consideration the color of the outer No. 22 paint job.
□The distinctive features of each Unryu-class ship are reproduced as separate parts.
□The rear of the bridge has been extended, and a special part has been used to incorporate the base of the tripod mast.
□The machine gun turrets added to the center of the port side and on both sides of the stern are reproduced as angular.
□While the flight deck is painted with latex, which can often look monotonous, the design is rich in detail, with diverse sculpting including the aircraft locking eye ring, landing brake lines, and expansion joints.
□Includes four types of aircraft: the Zero Fighter Type 52, Zero Fighter Type 21 with Bombing, Suisei, and Tenzan, aircraft owned by the 601st Air Group, which existed as a carrier-based unit after its completion.
□Parts are photo-etched and come in two large sizes.
□The included parts are primarily for adding details that cannot be reproduced with molded parts, and for replacing parts by cutting out parts.
□Photo-etched parts are included to capture the intricate ship's rigging that cannot be fully reproduced with injection parts.
□Photo-etched parts include handrails, ladders, No. 13 and No. 21 radars, landing brake cables, elevators, and airplane propellers.
□Metal parts require painting. Use instant glue or rubber-based adhesive depending on the adhesive.
