This wooden storage box is constructed from Japanese oak, exuding a warmth of wood. It can hold a complete set of stationery, including scissors and glue, and is also convenient for organizing remote controls. The joints are constructed using the traditional Japanese "arare-gumi" (single-piece joinery) method, which eliminates the use of nails or screws, resulting in exceptional strength. The insole is lined with cork to protect stored items. The interior dimensions are approximately 19.5cm wide x 8.7cm deep x 10cm high. The three compartments each measure 6cm wide x 8.5cm deep x 9.8cm high. The internal dividers are removable, allowing for versatile use. It can be used horizontally or upright as a collection box.

[Materials] Using Japanese solid wood in the right place With approximately 70% of Japan's land area covered in forests, we are committed to using domestically sourced materials and proposing a lifestyle that is in harmony with the environment.

In Japan, where a wide variety of tree species grow, we particularly focus on hardwoods. Hardwoods grown in Japan are diverse, dense, and of high quality, each with its own unique character. While conifers such as cedar and cypress grow quickly and straight, hardwoods such as oak and birch require highly specialized sawing and processing techniques tailored to the unique characteristics of each species.

We aim to fully utilize nearby forest resources in the right place, based on an understanding of the characteristics of each tree species, such as grain, color, and strength.

[Technology] Using the skills of Hida artisans to create products that will last. To maximize the beauty and durability of solid wood, we use the "kigumi" (woodworking) techniques passed down by Japanese artisans, aiming to create products that will last for generations. Kigumi requires advanced processing techniques, as it requires understanding the characteristics of wood and applying construction methods appropriate to the intended purpose. While this construction method is a traditional technique cultivated by the Japanese people since ancient times, we have further evolved it and developed techniques suited to the structure and uses of modern furniture and woodwork.

[Design] Bringing out the full appeal of wood Design is not just about pursuing aesthetic beauty; it also considers usability and safety, as well as how to reflect the material's properties and atmosphere in its form. For this reason, we incorporate the concept of "the right material in the right place" in our designs, striving to maximize the appeal of wood. For example, our "Kabano Desk" series is made from birch, a hardwood that grows abundantly in Japan. The design highlights the edges, a unique expression of hard, dense wood. Anomatope's wooden toys incorporate motifs of primal shapes found in nature, like pebbles and tree branches, with a focus on helping infants and toddlers connect more easily with the natural world. We also strive to enhance the appeal of wood through design, while constantly updating our products to keep up with the times.

The wood grain is highlighted with a vegetable oil finish, allowing for enjoyable aging and a richer appearance with use. Using solid natural wood from Japan, each piece is carefully finished by craftsmen in a workshop in Takayama, Gifu.
