The PENTAX 17 adopts a half-size format, using approximately half the size of a 35mm film frame (17 x 24mm). Due to the film advance mechanism of the PENTAX 17, simply holding the camera results in a vertical orientation, allowing users to shoot with the same feel as with smartphones, which are commonly used by many people today. This newly developed lens combines a well-established lens optics system with the latest coating technology. It features a newly developed 25mm (approximately 37mm equivalent in 35mm format) prime lens. Based on the lens optics of the "PENTAX Espio Mini" (released in 1994), which was highly regarded for its image quality, it has been newly designed for the half-frame format and employs high-performance multi-coating "HD Coating" to achieve clear and sharp images. Furthermore, the angle of view is based on the lens used in the best-selling half-frame format camera "RICOH Auto Half" (released in 1962), making it a focal length that allows for easy everyday photography. The optical viewfinder allows you to check the subject in real time. The optical viewfinder employs an Albada-type bright frame viewfinder. In addition to the normal shooting field of view frame, it also has a close-range field of view correction frame, and the selected zone focus icon can also be seen in the viewfinder. The camera employs a zone focus system where you simply select an icon. Six zones, ranging from close to far distances, are displayed as icons on the zone focus ring, allowing you to enjoy the process of selecting the appropriate icon for your subject. When macro shooting is selected, close-up shots are possible from approximately 0.25m, and the included strap allows for precise measurement of the shooting distance. Seven shooting modes: The built-in metering sensor automatically controls the exposure. It features seven diverse shooting modes, including "AUTO" for hands-free shooting, "Slow Shutter" suitable for shooting at dusk, and "Bulb" mode suitable for nightscapes and fireworks. It also has an independent exposure compensation dial, allowing for quick exposure adjustments according to the subject and shooting intention.
