The pump is fully submersible and can operate effectively under the water surface. Additionally, the pump can be placed outside of a reservoir, pond, or sump thanks to the ability to connect the hydraulic system directly to the pump inlet.
The only requirement for connecting the pump out of the water is gravity feeding water to the pump.
