Mulatu Astatke Ethio Jazz Lp Record

Product introduction

Congrats!! A miracle visit to Japan!!

If you want to listen to Muratu, this is the first one! The long-awaited repress of Muratu's most important album in the history of Ethiopian jazz, making it a major masterpiece in the career of Muratu!

This work, released by Ethiopian master musician/multi-player Muratu Astatuke from Amha Records in his native Ethiopia in '74 after returning from the U.S., is quite well called “Ethiopian Jazz.” It is a masterpiece that continues to shine brightly as a milestone not only in Mulatu's career, but also in the history of contemporary Ethiopian music. An ethnic nostalgic melody played by a tube, a polyrhythmic rhythm section that creates a thick buzz, a bewitching vibraphone with smoky roses and organs, and modal jazz sounds from the United States that surround the whole story... this work is a masterpiece that unmistakably balances that unmistakably reigns supreme at the pinnacle of Ethiopian jazz, and it is an ambitious work where Muratu's ingenuity to acquire a new sound bursts. Every time I listen to it, I'm thrilled by its mysterious coolness. “Yekermo Sew” and “Gubelye,” which were used as songs in the “Broken Flowers” play and caused a lot of attention, are also irresistible!
