Woody Joe 1/75 Scale Wooden Model Assembly Kit of the Yakushiji Temple East Pagoda
The Yakushiji East Pagoda is said to be the most beautiful three-story pagoda in Japan.
The East Pagoda was built in Heijokyo in 730 following the relocation of the capital to Heijokyo. However, unlike Kofukuji and other major temples, which were built in a new style, the layout of the temple remains in accordance with the ancient architectural style.
The pagoda stands on a platform, with each floor having a raised platform, giving it the appearance of six stories, creating a unique shape.
The pagoda's magnificent spire, the oldest still standing, is a masterpiece of Hakuho art, featuring openwork carvings of flying celestial beings by the Hajime Raku style.
The West Pagoda has also been restored today, demonstrating the splendor of the Hakuho period.
